Board of Education Meeting Minutes for April 8, 2024
The Board of Education met on Monday, April 8, 2024, at 5:30 pm. Members present: Brian Aaberg, Brad Anderson, David Ciancio, Scott Russell, Beth Sonderup, and Jennifer Wood. Absent-0.

Approved the agenda as presented.
Spotlight – Heart Health Challenge – Brandon Siegel presented information regarding the recent Heart Health Challenge for the elementary students. He informed the board about the goals and objectives of the challenge including the proper nutrition and physical fitness. Students also learned a form of CPR. An additional goal was a fund-raising activity for the American Heart Association. The elementary students raised nearly $9,000 for their efforts.
It was moved by Aaberg and seconded by Russell to approve the purchase of cameras for the playground area from Applied Connective. Roll call vote: Aye-6, Nay-0.
It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Wood to approve the contract extensions for Certificated Staff for 2024-2025. Roll call vote: Aye-6, Nay-0.
Dr. Anderson presented the 2024-25 Technology budget that included estimates for software, hardware, and repairs. It was moved by Russell and seconded by Aaberg to approve the technology budget for the 2024-2025 school year. Roll call vote: Aye-6, Nay-0.
Dr. Anderson shared the recent revisions approved by the district’s wellness committee and updates to the Wellness Triennial Assessment. Both items directly impacted policy 5052 which is reviewed annually. It was moved by Wood and seconded by Anderson to approve policy 5052 Wellness Policy as reviewed and revised. Roll call vote: Aye-6, Nay-0.
Dr. Anderson informed the board that the Fullerton Music Boosters donated a check for $15,000 to go toward the purchase of band coats. The district would be able to pick up the remaining amount of the proposed purchase as the billing would likely be in November or December. This purchase would conclude the full update of the FPS band uniforms for many years to come. It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Aaberg to approve the purchase of band uniforms for $31,577.10 from the Depreciation Fund. Roll call vote: Aye-5, Nay-0, Absent-1.
Jordan Wetovick and Missy Aaberg presented information regarding supplemental materials and programming to aid with the school guidance program. The materials will be paid through money received in a recent mental health grant. The board will have the month to look over the materials for approval next month.
Approved the minutes from the March 11, 2024, regular board meeting.
Approved the Treasurer’s report as presented.
Approved the payment of bills as presented.
